Growing a greener, more resilient Pakistan

Climate change is disrupting economies and lives everywhere, with more extreme weather, rising seas, and shifting patterns threatening food security for millions. Million Smiles Foundation responds through community-rooted, on-the-ground environmental action.

Why it matters
A warming world is a hungrier world
The effects of climate change reach far beyond weather. Global projections suggest the world is not on track to end hunger by 2030 — with the number of people affected potentially surpassing 840 million if current trends continue. Children are especially vulnerable: in 2019 alone, nearly 47 million children under five faced acute undernutrition linked to limited nutrition and infection.
MSF's climate action work is one part of a wider effort — alongside our education and disaster management programmes — to help Pakistani communities adapt to and withstand these pressures.

Climate Action

Climate change is affecting every country on every continent. It is disrupting national economies and affecting lives. Weather patterns are changing, sea levels are rising, and weather events are becoming more extreme. The world is not on track to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030. If recent trends continue, the number of people affected by hunger would surpass 840 million by 2030. In 2019, 6.9 per cent (or 47 million) children under 5 were affected by wasting, or acute undernutrition, a condition caused by limited nutrient intake and infection.
